EBCOG - the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology – was founded in 1996 and is the Board of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Section of the Union Européenne Médecins Spécialistes (UEMS). Our members are National Societies of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and, as such, we are the voice of European Obstetrics and Gynaecology, representing obstetricians and gynaecologists in all of our 36 member countries.

Our objective is to improve the health of women and their babies by promoting the highest possible standards of care in all European countries. We do this by advocating for OBGYN issues to be advanced in EU political institutions and by providing information to our member societies about current and upcoming EU legislation relevant to OBGYN. In addition, we accredit training centres in OBGYN and in the subspecialties, have produced logbooks and training curricula, again both in general OBGYN and in the four subspecialties, and are currently focusing on developing common European standards.

EBCOG brings together eminent professionals from all its member countries and works closely with the four sub-specialist pillars of Materno-Foetal Medicine (EAPM), Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), Reproductive Medicine (ESHRE) and Urogynaecology (EUGA). EBCOG also cooperates with other specialist organisations in Europe through our Standing Committee on Training and Assessment and works closely with the European Network of Trainees in OBGYN (ENTOG) – we believe it is crucial to assist and support the next generation of practitioners in our field.

We want to be certain that the highest possible standards of healthcare are available for all European women, both now and in the future, and in order to do this, we all need to work together.
